Sloe have dark bark and spines so fairly easy to tell from Damson which are light bark and no spines ;-)

Damson trees can have spikes as well, we've got 6 plum trees, 35+ damson trees & whole hedge of blackthorn i.e sloes.
Sloes remain very hard until the first frosts, they are just bit bigger than peas.
Whereas damsons can be up to 30mm, and are soft to touch. Anyone want 3 or 400 going spare?
