How not to cut a hedge

Picked up a catalogue today from a well known builders merchant and while thumbing through came across the image posted below.

Cutting a hedge, albeit just a posed photo, but using a grass strimmer while standing on a platform and no ear defenders or eye protection to be seen! Not exactly best practice is it!

  • Should the offending builders merchants be fined £000`s for breach of HSE rules?

surely such a large company should pay a proportionate sum

  • how does he expect to cut through those thick branches with strimmer line?, he could at least be using a blade.

  • Wow! if only hedge trimming was that simple.!!!!!!!!!!!

  • To be fair, he is wearing gloves for a good grip on the cow horns!

Bet he's only wearing trainers though!

Come on guys, cut him a bit of slack ............... he is after all wearing a hi- viz and baseball cap. Standard PPE for people who should never be let near a strimmer, never mind trimming a hedge with it. Or am I missing something.... lmao ;-)
  • That's the funniest thing I have seen for a while! Surely it must be a joke....!
  • Sadly no joke, its in a 2012/13 catalogue fresh off the sales desk! its under the "Towers" section if anyone wants to look for it among their various catalogues.

  • I bet the image was sourced online (ie stolen) by some web designer chappie/ess !! like who would use that tower to cut a hedge ? I'm not going to delve into the H&S bit or the tool used etc etc because that is complete knobsville !
