LJN's professional business forum is unrivalled and open to anyone within within the UK landscape industry

LJN's Business Objectives Group (BOG) is for any Pro serious about building their business.

For the researching visitor there's a wealth of landscaping ideas, garden design ideas, lawn advice tips and advice about garden maintenance.

How do you market your company?

Whilst the more general gardening service type of company will market their company in localised places, like shop windows, church magazines, local newspaper, their vehicle sign written and general word of mouth; how do the larger landscaping companies and suppliers market their services as they cover a wider geographical area?

Do you have a website that is used to get sales? or it a glorified brochure?

Is your website optimised for Search Engines - SEO - how much do you pay for this?

Do you use printed press? What do you pay?

Do you use trade directories? - What sort of costs are involved?

Do you use the internet - for instance LJN is a great place to have a great informative member's page!

Sign written vans? -  A lot of information on or just the company name?

If you use the above, what is the ROI (Return on Investment)?

Which is the best you have used and would you continue to use this method of marketing?

  • Well done John, it sounds like you have reached your capacity in your business, without taking on extra staff.

Its also seems like you are using your website correctly .

It will be good to hear what other methods landscapers use, as they always need new business, whether its referrals or advertising.

  • When I was hard landscaping I would often pick up the phone and call designers to see if they they needed contractors to build thier designs.  It worked, obviously you will get a few knock backs along the way but thats part of the game.  I think a lot of people are nervous about cold calling but as long as you are offering a good product/service it can be a very effective way of direct marketing
