Also as a side thought the resale of them on the second hand market cant be touched, so if you upgrade before they are falling apart it doesnt hurt too much.
I have a 3 year old 48 that will pull £300 in, and a 2 year old 56 that will return me over £400, I will have to move these soon because i dont have the space, although common sense tells me to wait till next march to give me the best reurn.
We've two 56's & each has a different blade. One has the normal small tipped blade (and is what you would get if you now ordered a new blade).
The other one has a 'high lift' blade in my oppinion, in that it has a longer more solid tip (almost twice the lenght). The blade has no markings that can be seen.
I was unsuccesful a while ago trying to get a replacement. However, a source told me that the blade I had was probably off an Hayter Double 3 (which is also a 22" ?). These would be considered mulching blades (hence higher lift).
One day I will get round to ordering one to compare.
If anyone knows more or can check, I would also appreciate hearing.....
Steve, any comments from your experience of Hayters ?
Contact Dennis at Egham Mowers on 01252 844404 They are based just outside Hook so should be local to you. He always has 3rd party Hi-lift blades for the Hayter.
Colin, agree - check for part no. but they are not always there on some non-OEM parts.
Some blades have the number stamped on in paint over the black coating, so when the blade is used it disappears...

I went to pick up some equipment and spoke to parts guys at our dealer. Interesting reply:
Technically there is no 'hi-lift' blade for a Hayter 56. All the current OEM ones are made to the same design, but the original 56's where supplied with a solid (heavy duty) blade with much larger wing tips.
That blade was dropped some years ago for the current design to get past approvals etc (noise mainly).
Bad news is Hayter don't make them. Good news is that they are available as 'OEM' pattern parts if your dealer knows where to order from (ie not Hayter)
Have been warned that fitting them does alter your mower height settings if you are used to the current blades.
Hope that helps....
Will post pictures of both for clarity later....
