Has google changed its algorithm ?

Hi everyone i've just been browsing through google and noticed my business website has fallen in rank as much a two places over night on most of my search terms any advice ?

Does anyone know if google has changed its algorithm lately ?

Do we know the search term preferences ?

Any help would be great especially as we hit winter with work slowing down a great deal and the old website is the main attraction for my new clients.

Yes Benjamin. Google have made changes recently.
From what I understand, visits may be down but the quality if the visit - based on the search - is higher.

The link above briefly explains the ideals of the new hummingbird that google has introduced, unfortunaly is mean i have alot of extra work on my website to change to the new ideals.

  • I've just found out the issue on my website unfortunately a recent change in page design caused my page heading to hide itself, and as google hate people hiding words, it dropped my ranking, time for a bit of re jigging i think =/

  • Hi John ive just found out i have google places didn't realise you gain exposure from it ?

I was missing from two local searches (through Google) so I set up google places and within a day am back at the top! Its costs me £1 per day and through a month I get between 30 and 46 hits! Well worth it I think!

Although I build my won website and code it myself etc I dont fully understand it! but it works for me so if it works leave it alone!
