Gravel

I have designed a small gravel area that curves with a brick edging, as an extension to my clients existing patio.
My client is concerned about how this would look after a heavy downpour, particularly as his garden suffers from flooding when it rains for days.

He has asked me if he can see an example of a gravel terrace somewhere locally, preferably somewhere that he can visit.

Any ideas ? the area is Brentwood Essex.

Thanks

Glenn

  • Hi just a thought - have you thought about Resin Bound Paving? This can deal with drainage issues as well as it is permeable? It has been used extensively in public areas . It means that the gravel stays put but still allows for drainage?
Resin Surfacing projects group has a few members who work with Resin and they should be able to give you a a few places to view it?

  • If he is worried about loosing the gravel or it pitting deeply, what about installing Coregravel, its on the right in the advertisers. That will keep the gravel in place better.

  • Have you worked with the gravel stabilisers Keiran? It would probably be a good option for the area Glen is talking about - I just wondered how well the gravel stays within the honeycomb system?

  • I haven worked with them, but I have walked over many areas with them and they seem to hold the gravel well and of course help with access for wheelchairs etc.

  • Thank you Faith, good idea, I have done that.

  • Thanks Kieran, I will take a look.

  • i dont quite see what his concern is?

  • I think he is worried that it will all "float away", but I have asked him excatly what he means
    Regards

  • Lost count of how many ive done and never ever had a problem with them doing anything in such weather. Unless of course he gets tidal waves up that neck of the woods!
