Hi Robbie
Phil uses go cardless for those who pay monthly so sure he can tell you more.
I believe there is a 1% charge per transaction but I know of a few tradespeople who find it useful!
Thanks Jenny.
Yes Robbie, I've been using GoCardless to handle subscription direct debits since we launched the Premium membership.
It's an excellent service and I think there's more to come in terms of development.
It's easy to set up a one-off Paylink which can be sent in an email for a client to pay their bill. Alternatively you can set up a recurring payment direct debit.
As Jenny says the fees are set at 1% and capped at £2.00. So even if a client pays you £1,000, you only pay £2.00.
My biggest worry is that if I let customers pay me by direct debit but do the bulk of the work at the start of the contract (i.e scarify / aerate) they cancel after a few months and I'm left out of pocket & with a fight on my hands to get the monies.
But it would open up a lot more sales to me as more people could 'afford' to use me
Hi Robbie
A way round that is to agree a price 'up front' that is slightly higher to get the lawn up to scratch and then direct debit from then on to spread the cost. I would feel this was very reasonable.
