In all honesty I don't think you'll find anything easier to use than tonne sacks. Just fill them less, use more of them. They store/stack perfectly, don't take up any excess space in comparison to more rigid structured containers and are cheap and easy to come by.
Depends how big your van/trailer is... Due to size issues with my old van, i used to constantly tow a trailer, so just chucked waste in directly.
With the new van, its planned so there is floor space in the rear for 3 dumpy bags, with lighter waste able to be thrown on top. I use dumpy bags, old compost sacks (free supply from local plant nursery) and lawn fertiliser bags too.
A customer has pop up sacks that they used to fill with waste for me to collect - they are a pain in the backside and quickly fall apart in my experience - they now buy 'rubble sacks' from the local discount store at £1.50 for 5 - these last several uses.
Another really useful product i have is a 'Hippo', 'Gorilla' or 'Tubtrug' tubs - super flexible plastic type material with two handles, can be stacked, unbreakable (unlike buckets), and can be squashed for pouring out of - I also have quite a few standard black buckets in varying sizes (£1 each from local discount shop) - all my tubs and buckets are template sprayed with my business name after customers tried to claim them! Tubtrugs are like Ebay Item number: 160555052707
A wheel barrow is always handy too - mine fits upright stored in the back of the van too - its a kind of Transit Tardis!

We use these for our large mowing jobs as some of the lawns we cut are to large for hauling dumpy bags. They fit on the mower, very strong, just the right width for a hayter bag to fit in and water proof.
Why not get a free sample from them to see what you think.
Thanks for your replies, thanks Martin, i've just ordered a sample of these.
The pop up ones don't last.
These are quite good - Bosmere G620 Professional Landscaper Bags - re-enforced bases, two handles at top and one on the bottom. Holds ~250L - a lot opf stuff and still managable by one person

Price varies - we've seen them as cheap as £7.00 and expensiver as £20
I use tub trugs, and think they are fab. - There are lots of different sizes, I use the mid sized ones as I know even full I can lift it.
We got a deal at our local garden centre in Frensham, when we wanted to buy half a dozen or so of them.
I will say this was well over a year ago....(nb 7.00+vat)
I know you can the smaller one's on ebay for ~£9.50 inc vat
