I've had best results starting from when the weather turns in March.
Solus will give better results, but costs more. I've used matched (2) and shared (multiple) before and the cost per customer is similar. Ie with matched you pay more than shared, but get better returns, so evens out really. Depends on how many customers you're expecting and what the budget is.
Hi Andy, I've been quoted £40 per 1000 Solus and £30 per 1000 Shared
Im thinking of having 30,000 Delivered on the Solus but then thought about maybe having 40,000 Delivered on the Shared for same price as 30,000 Solus.
I haven't had flyers delivered before so don' know what results to expect.
I've got three different distributors out for us at the moment. One is solus two is shared as that what they do at their different prices. They're out at the moment with a Feb offer on the back, and we'll switch to a 'standard' flyer for March.
Timing wise I've found both Feburary and March to be good. Those first few spring like days are golden, just can't get everything out at once! There's a few keen ones to hoover up first, and it's always good to be just ahead of any competition - many will keep hold of a good flyer for a week or two if it's something they may be interested in. We'll get a lot out this week.
Good to chat Thursday night Andy. Mowgate lives on!
Hi Jack, What do you mean by switcing back to a standard flyer in March?
Whats classed as a good flyer and what paper weight is best for a good flyer?
What response do you normally get from your flyers?
Hi Bryn,
I've put together two different flyers this year - one has a 20% off offer on all February lawn care which is going out now. The last few days of Feb we'll switch to the flyer without the offer on.
A good flyer... one in which keeps itself out of the bin? A bit of colour, an easy read, all the basic info on there. Ideally get them to your website or to pick up the phone where you can give them more information. A couple of strong unique selling points - why should they be calling you? Price benefits, service benefits? What kind of customer are you looking to attract - show your flyer to family, friends and neighbours. What catches their eye?
My responses are a shade higher than Andy's at around 1 in 800, but conversions a little down. The ones that come running out of their house after us, or call the same day tend to be the ones we later get the silent treatment from. I like to get mine out on the early side ahead of the competition and allow the good customers to call 1-3 weeks later.
Response rates will vary on what is it you're offering, how good your flyer is and where you are posting it. A bespoke service will be higher where many trades may get more inquires, and maybe less of what you want too.
Andy - was more the trip home for me when it kicked in!
Hi Jack
What paper weight is a good flyer?
I've been quoted £225 for Design and Printing 30,000 flyers with a paper weight of 150gsm
Is that weight ok?
Jack, Yes enjoyed the chat, but not the head on Friday!
Bryn, I think you may find it does not matter which way to go if shared is a pair. Is shared a pair or is it multiple say up to six say.
If it's multiple leaflets and you're one of many, then I think solus would be better.
With paired leaflets, we usually get around 1 in 1000 response, and a high conversion rate of about 85%. I would think solus will give better response rates as long as leaflet well designed, has an offer and is going to good areas / properties. Make sure it's not going to businesses, flats and terraced houses.
Hi Andy, they said the Shared delivery will go out with 1 other non competing flyer.
1 out of 1000 dosnt sound much like much of a response
Are you doing 1 x 30,000 drop or will you be repeating over the season?
Hi Paul. I haven't done flyers before, so the plan was to have 30,000 delivered all at once and see how that goes, then have another 30,000 delivered the following month.
Im of the thinking that you need to get your customers in early as later in the year the people who want a gardener will already have someone, making it harder to gain customers once Summer arrives. So that's why I want to have lots of flyers out early.
