Fixing artificial grass 35 floors up

Anybody have any experience fixing artificial grass to paving on an exposed terrace.

We have been asked to take on this job and were planning a metal edge to run the length of the terrace to clamp the grass down. But the customer is pushing for a quick fix and we are thinking this could quickly become the job from hell.

The site is completely exposed being 35 floors up and hanging off the edge of the building. The customer wants it glued to the paving but I'm not overly happy with this solution as until the glue goes off its just sitting there and its like walking into a wind tunnel even on a calm day.

Any ideas would be greatfully received.

  • Would need more details but glue should be fine. You could always but some thing on the grass to hold it down whilst the glue takes. Biggest concern would be a magic flying carpet taking off in a few years time :-). If unsure speak to the lawn supplier for guidance
  • Not a chance ive researched and would only do it as per instructions,

    i don't want a bad name !

it may be ok for months but not years it needs pinning down, gluing, edging, solid base, to be flat and i doubt high up exposed areas would be good regarding wind/ weather etc let alone pets/ dogs pulling it up or kids ?! ill look at photo youve put up now :)

there are reasons for doing things properly like artificial grass , im being asked to knock my price down on my quote of £1,600 for a small rear bungalow area, but i know materials and costs / fuel / labour / trailer waste and deliveries will be half that before my weeks work and business costs.

my advice - let another amateur do it. check you tube videos from easi grass etc.

  • My thoughts exactly they have had our quote for steel edging around the perimeter bolted to the frame but they want it done yesterday and I think I will give this one a miss as they want a sub standard solution and I'm not willing to put my name to it unless its done right
