I go with creocote, its messy and smells but it does what it says on the tin for a very good cost return.
and that doesn't affect the colour does it?
I always use Blackfriars Exterior wood preservative Goldstar, its oil based and will last for years, just go for any colour other than green as it is a bit bright!
