£18/m2 is a reasonable price for hand-cut Indian sandstone, though there are direct importers who charge less - check out Manjit Yadav and Naman Sethi - both on Landscape juice.

I'd expect to pay £18/m for a decent indian stone. Trade price. can I suggest if they are offering it at 'clearance' rates that you pitch in at more like £12/metre otherwise you are simply stocking up on a product at the price you would normally buy it at. Doesn't help your cash flow.

Hmm the flags are a good 3" thick and large but seem to be non standard sizes.
The builders (wholesale) merchant we would otherwise use charges about £65-£70 per Sqm for yorkstone and 50 for indian.
You need to start looking elsewhere. £50/m for Indian stone is a crazy amount of money.
If the flags you're being offered are 3" thick and non-standard sizes then they're not Indian stone. Surely the merchant knows the difference? If it's York stone then it might be a more viable deal however remember that you've still got to load and transport it and store it - the time and money all add up and that £18 can soon turn into £65.

It looks like indian stone, I dont think we'd ever bother stocking up on materials unless we were large enough to know we could shift them.
We've only done crazy paving up until now (2 jobs) so felt it was worth testing the water. The guy at the yard was probably looking for a mug me thinks.
He knows about our first attempt at Crazy paving with a Crazy price.... £776 for 29Sqm laid.
We had to swollow and do this one at a huge loss (still hurts).
I think you're very wise.
