etesia RTEB do they have grass boxes?

i have an etesia RTEB in my garden that was given to me, i've used it a couple of times on jungle gardens but i'm thinking of treating it to a service and a new blade and using it as a main mower. however it doesnt have a grassbox and i've never had one for it. i cant see any bracketry that could hold one so my question is do they have grassboxes or are they designed not to have one? if they do would it be a dealer only or might i find one someware else?

  • it has a huge rear discharge, i'm not sure on the age of the mower. it has a large stone guard on the back and no side discharge. the mowers only drawbacks for me are its weight, and you have to loosen each wheel individually and raise or lower them and retighten to adjust the cutting height.

Hi Matt, chances are it originally had a box, google it. Could you set it up and useit only for speciic sites to save you the hassle of the hieght adjusting. I have ten mowers, and they all have their specific sites they get used for.

  • ive been looking at those, mine is the same but it doesnt have the black bump strip on the front. its a great mower very strong and robust, first time i used it was on a garden where the grass was 5 foot tall. it munched it down to 3 inches in one pass, it never blocked up, didnt slow down. i was extreemly impressed. if i hadnt been given this one i would never have bought one as i thought they were over priced. my opinion now is they are not overpriced great things cost money.

I could be wrong but I don't think this model has a grass box.  I saw some on ebay (harrythecat) yesterday as I was keeping my eyes open for used Etesias.

If thats the Etesia  with the Rotax engine, I'm sure they have an optional grass box. It's a large grassbox that hooks/clips on. They are not cheap as a legit spare~£100

  • i've been using a 22 inch toro, it has the rear bag side discharge or mulch, i always bag as the other two are crap. it wont go lower than an inch and the wheel centres have worn and they all wobble the drive cable snapped and the drive was crunching and grinding so i didnt replace the cable all in all its just a crap mower.
  • thats exactly the same as my mower. thanks so much for that. when i get home i'll clear the snow off it and i'll treat it to a bit of shelter in the garage and a good clean down.

  • the company my dad works for has a gardener who maintains the factory grounds and the owners house, the owner periodically turns up with a new mower and my dad gets offered the old one for me. so far i've had a sit on mower 5 pedestrian mowers and umpteen other bits and bobs off them. all for free. some of them are good and some are not so good. but i cant complain i might ask my dad to ask the gardener if he still has the grassbox

Your welcome Matt, I have had quite a few Tizzies (as I call them) over the years, mainly great work horses, but the wheel bearings can be a bit suspect. Engines are brilliant though both the 2 and 4 stroke ones. Nice powerful machines with plenty guts. Hieght adjustment, being individual can be annoying but heho can get everything eh. Give it a was down and a service and it should serve you well
    regards
