Etesia Pro 46 whineing noise

Now that the weather has cooled down, ive noticed when im pushing the mower around without the engine running, that there is a whine coming from the back wheels. The best way i can describe it is the same sort of noise you get when reversing a car with no syncromesh!

It doesnt seem to happen when the engine is running either with or without drive engaged and it wasnt evident in the warmer weather, only since its been colder in the mornings.

Ive also noticed if i lift the rear of the mower when manouvering with the engine running but drive disengaged the rear wheels turn, they always have but it used to be only just noticeable and is now quicker, which is the opposite of what i would expect if the belt was worn.

Ive made no adjustments to the drive cable and it appears to be in the same position it always has been.

Any thoughts?

    hi guys

with the wheels, when you put it into bypass this just opens up an extra valve so the oil in the box is still circulating but not sending any power to the wheel motors, but if you lift the machine up the wheels will move but when the mower is grounded it shouldnt

as for the noise nick i will go push one around in a sec because im sure when the engine is not running and you push the mower you are still moveing the shafts in the wheel motors so that will be moveing oil around which could be giveing the noise your on about now that the temp is droping and the oil will thicken up slightly when cold.

this would explain why when the engine is running and the pump in the transmission is operating your not noticing any noise.

but i will have a look at this to be sure and repost to you my findings
