etesia hydro help!

Deck belt snapped on my hydro 80 today so because we were halfway through a job went to a deckbelts r us type shop for a replacement.Predictably belt only lasted halt an hour so had to resort to the trusty hayter double 3,almost immediately the drive cable snapped (it was serviced last week) but still managed to get job done(heavy buggers those double threes). What I really need to know is on looking under the cutting deck I noticed a 4 inch bolt hanging down and found another on the ground nearby.Dont know what there for, could this be the reason why my belts keep snapping?Grateful for any advice and also need a manual for this machine many thanks,Paul

  • Hi Neal,

Thanks for getting back to me,havent got the tech to send pic and my IT adviser wont get of the phone(women!)

but having spent several hours scrolling through the net am fairly sure that they are the battery retaining bolts.

Will check further tomorrow but what I am worried about is the deck drive belt snapping is this down to me buying a copy belt in my rush to finish a job?As you may have guessed havent owned it long ,bought on ebay(doh!) and havent been able to find any operating/service manuals.

I would be grateful for any advice you can give

    Thanks again,Paul

    hi paul

i would say that yes the best fit belt you bought was not up to scratch,

almost every belt used on a lawn mower is of a special grade and not a standard v belt, if you ever have to go get a best fit belt again make sure its an LB belt (lawnmower belt) which gose for any ride on mower not just etesia

the reason your belt could have snapped is 1 of 3 main possibilitys

1- the belt had done a few seasons work and you was unlucky enugh to be the one it says enugh to

2 - the tension on the belt needs adjusting (belt was to loose and was rideing the rim of the pullys) = easy to adjust by moveing the spring one hole up on the tension arm.

3 - it was not the original belt to start with

when i get into the office i will sort out some info for you and part number for the correct belt you need to use

    regards
