hi paul
it would not be to difficult to do as the pro46 deck is the same on every machine no matter what engine and other extras are fitted onto it.
you will need the engine bolts / cables and blade boss for the phe model we do and depending on if you have a self drive or push you would need the transmission pully from crank aswell,
both the blade boss and trans pully are dependant on shaft diamiter (22.2mm or25mm)
let me know what shaft size you have and if your b&s pr46 is push or selfdrive and i will post up a list of parts with rough costings for you in the next day or 2
hi marc
im sorry if you have felt fobbed off, what was your issue ? and i will see if i can help more

Thanks Neil, it's a self-drive. No idea on the shaft, so assuming it'll be my luck to have the wrong one I guess pricing that in can't do any harm!
The problem there is that we're not set up for excepting payments and can't deal direct with anyone other than dealers.
I know it's a pain at times and not just for you guys but me aswell, as I'm always there to try and help the best I can.
If you wanted to you could let me know the dealer you were told to use and the cable you needed and I will find out in the morning what's going on with by calling them myself, and try to give it a little push to get moveing quicker
Regards
Neal
Hi Neal
Tried in the past to fit a Honda engine (from a Rover mower) to an Etesia and couldn't because of the different
shaft size. Do Etesia have a blade boss to suit the smaller 22.2 shaft.
That would be fantastic as the engine is only a year old.
Thanks
Gordon

to take a brigges engine 46 and use a honda engine these are the parts you will have to change
phe style machine =
22.2mm boss = 24616
25mm boss = 23616
throttle cable is = 23685
engine break cable = 23702
for a phts style mahine =
22.2mm boss = 23636
25mm boss = 23620
you will need a transmission belt pully on the crank
22.2mm pulley = 23730
25mm pulley = 23729
and cables are the same as above leaveing the transimission cable inplace as it is already.
also engine bolts i can not comment on as unless your fitting an etesia spec engine these could be differnt so you would have to source these or try our original ones which i will post number up on request
as etesia only use gcv & gxv 160 honda engines to our spec i cant say 100% that this will work with other honda model engines but it at least gives you something to start with and i see no reason why this should not work fine
Be sure to check that crankshaft length is the same on old engine and proposed replacement. I have seen people swap engines before only to find out too late that blade is set higher into deck only allowing high cuts or worse still sticking out the bottom of the mower. Not all engines are the same and Honda engines often come off machines with blade clutches etc that can mean a shorter crankshaft than on non braked machines that are more likely to use Briggs engines.
This can be adjusted with different length/thickness blade bosses if required......

Fantastic thread. I too have a spare gxv160 and was thinking of picking up a non-running PHE and sticking the engine on. Now, I will!
+1 for RT. They insisted on delivering a grassbox to me for free rather than charging the £13 courier fee. Excellent service.
