Tripod step ladders. Not using them enough to justify the spend in the current situation, but definitely would hire one if possible for some of the taller hedges/trees.
Strangely enough, that's one of the items that's always on our "shall we, shan't we" list. They look so useful and sensible, but we had two of them about 20 years ago and nobody hired them. Just a bit reluctant to invest in them only to find the result is the same today.
Here's a tip cheaper than hire. Go to a main distributor of them. Any which have been returned due to fault are either scrapped or sold cheap I got a 12ft tripod with extendable feet for £50 the only damage I could find was a rub on the aluminium that was the size of my thumb nail.
Which company did you get your bargain from as I'm in the same position as others. The irony it would be for my own hedge and not clients. Cheers all
I've been looking for a pair of sky hooks for ages.

Sorry David, it was meant as a joke! Sky hooks/long wait/tartan paint/left handed screw driver.

Trench digger. Not an excavator or mini digger.
Our Turf Teq Edger/Trencher will dig shallow trenches, in four widths from 18mm to 125mm, with no damage to surrounding grass. Have a look at this short video:
