    Be careful Bryn.

You're potentially at the start of White Finger (HAVS). If you let it persist you'll have problems for the rest of your life.

I've been suffering the same reaction. I've had a single-sided strimmer for the last 14 years and after use I'm finding that my hands and fingers buzz for some times afterwards.

I've just bought a new Alpina B44D. It has cow horn handlebars. After using it for the first time this week I didn't suffer with any after effects.

Glad I changed but I do miss my little strimmer as it was easy toy use and left a good finish..

    • That Alpina looks like my Stihl, which is supposed to be lower vibrate.

    What are you using now?
Try a Stihl fs360 or above they have good anti vibe on them
  • Just look at the manufacturers specifications....... Stihl certainly quote their vibration levels. Basically, the more expensive "professional" models have the lower vibration. If it still persists, as Phil suggests, you're heading for problems and I'd try and avoid using the problematic equipment or you could end up with serious problems.

Battery models really address this issue, take a look at the pro offerings from Stihl, Pellenc, Husqvarna. I have seen experienced grounds maintenance contractors go from scepticism to massive fans of the system on vibrations alone within a week.
    • yes battery power is the way forward, if it wasn't for cordless i would give up my gardening round

        Wow that's a bit extreme:)
        • yes i find it makes the work easy, almost fun, for me it's "once you've gone cordless you can never go back" , with plenty of charged batteries rolling around in the foot well of the truck and a good selection of decent battery powered kit i can tackle any job, i can work faster now and with less fatigue than when i was 20, only a small one man mostly garden maintenance business, but for me it is just the ticket, the only petrol i regularly use is my ride on mower and a scarifier, due to a shortage of affordable battery powered options for these items at present... I have found that, contrary to being an early adopter of most relatively new technologies, the inertia in the pro gardening market has resulted in some cracking bargains on this battery equipment as very few other people seem to want them lol

Hi Billy, what battery strimmer would you recommend?

            Also what about blowers?
