Echo SRM300 Bumpheads

Hi guys, been lurking in the background and I haven't posted in ages but I'm after some help sourcing oem bumpheads.

I bought a couple of srm300tes brushcutters last year and I had a couple of heads come with each unit but I now need some replacements for the fast approaching season.

The thing is, original bump heads are £25/30+ each so I'm looking for a direct replacement, and although I've bought what I thought was a simple swap, it turns out that the fitting isn't right!

They have an M10x1.25FH fitting, but the fitting is recessed into the head as opposed to flush if that makes sense.

Can anyone suggest a supplier or cheaper alternative please

Why not try the aftermarket Efco load bump & go strimmer heads. We get them for £20 inc bat and come with adapters for major brands but pukka dealers have a big box of other adapters and cross reference chart.

We've swapped all our strimmer heads for Stihl, Echo & Honda ( ~12 off ) to all use the same which makes life easier.

They are quick to load and with bump action easy to use.
      • Thanks Gary.. I've tried a couple of these and after the lads have used them for a while the 'winders' aren't so easy to turn and load new line! especially if they've been cutting really short and the bump has been hitting the ground. I didn't think it would prove difficult to get a direct replacement other than echo's own branded heads!

Occasionally you have to take them apart and empty the debris that builds up, but probably true of all heads.

The bump stops only wear if they're using the kerbs/paths as 'horizontal guides' ? Some of the guys are good at floating them, others can't always do it especially if the strimmers are D Handles. Cow-horn users should have no problem......

Unfortunately it's proved very hard to get the Oregon versions with metal bump stops.

I use these but get them from spaldings for about £6.50<br />
    <br />
I use stihl square 3mm line and unless it's nasty brambles etc(which would need a blade anyway)<br />
The line lasts about 1/2 an hour before you have to stop and let more out. The head itself lasts ages.<br />
I changed to these after not finding a bump head that lasted.
I find the bumps wear out in my main use as the head is nearly always bumped on herb edges or pavements
    • Hi Richard, I don't think it will fit.. this is a pic of the fitting on mine any they're totally different?3314777881?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

That's the problem - fitment - which is we ended up with Efco due to all the adapters meant 1 head across all strimmers

Maybe not directly I had to buy an adapter for all the strimmers which was about a fiver each.
It's not perfect being manually fed but they last so much longer and when they do wear out it's only £6.50 to replace.

The Efco heads come with 3 adapters in box that cover 80% of strimmers with the only exception (for us) was the Honda strimmers but the adapters are only £1.50 each

If I went back to bump feed (which I might at least for one machine for domestic gardens) I think I would try the Efco.
I've got a couple of the Oregon jet fit heads that I've got some 7mm line that's got teeth. That's really good on clearance jobs when you've no idea what's buried in the grass/ brambles etc. As in lumps of metal shopping baskets etc
