Domain names

Been thinking of starting up a new website for a specific element of what we do.

Just wondering in terms of domain names it seems logical to have a name that people also search for, so gardenmaintenancetunbridgewells.com for (a bad) example!

But is it better to go local, so include your town in the title or go wider and include the county?

Welcome any thoughts.

    Aparently google frown upon websites that use keywords and I read an article on a link from twitter the other day (sorry can't find it) but the google alogorithm for placing pages on google could possibly even penalise a website name for having just key words in it. Doesn't mean this is true though!

    Today I saw an advert for cleaning windows and other bits and I scoured the advert trying to find the name of the business because everywhere it just said domestic and commercial cleaning crawley. Customers like to see business names and this could go for website names too?

    Any reason why you want to set up another website for a specific part of what you do- isn't it better to concentrate on your current website and make it better with more pages etc?

    Anyways...this is just my thoughts, other's may think differently.

    I run two websites, my main one being mibservices.co.uk. i built and update this myself. My second is landscapemaintenanceedinburgh.co.uk, a yell built site. Obviously my second site was built and domained to aide seo which it does very well as does my main site. Both are back linked to each other. I dont believe the theory regarding google not liking search term domain names. Doing a search for my services and areas brings my business up and practically wipes out my competion on the first page of google as my two sites come up along with my ljn and business index profiles. I would say do it

    Just another thing you can do to boost seo for your business. Beef up your ljn profile yours is a very light on your business services and create a back link to ljn on your website

    I'm just looking to focus a new website on a different service which has a different target audience. Will have to think on!
