    Hi Gary

I don't know but as a user you should not mix more than can be used in any one day and from memory, as a contractor, one should only mix enough for the job in hand.
  • If you're only talking the odd spot spray then it's almost as quick to yank the weeds out by hand.

I keep clean sprayers after a day's work.

Phil, I agree in principle, but the reality is as mentioned above and we often do the same. We regulalry do spot spraying and thus can have a 5 or 8L sprayer with some left over as you can not 'measure' the area to be sprayed.

Its a bit like learning to drive and pass the test, what happens after in that the learning is 'tempered' with the cut and thrust of real life.

The other reason I asked, is we have just bought a basic stem injection kit to deal with JKW at two sites (at request of client/landlord). The instructions clearly imply you can isolate the small 1L side pack containing the r/up mixture via a tap and leave for use on a future visit....

I agree and I have to admit that I/we mixed chemicals and stored/travelled with them in heavy duty 20L fertiliser (rinsed before re-use) containers - I was being a pedant really by spouting the rules :)

Common sense says that if a concentrate can be transported safely in a container then a dilute mix should be able to too.

If anyone's interested I'll keep you posted on how we get on with the Micron japanese knotweed stem injection kit.

Pro Gards advice (from an earlier post) helped us deal with an initial patch of JKW, but having done that we have been asked to deal with it at another two sites. (Paul, probably owe you a drink...)

The upside is the landlord was happy and can see we could deal with his needs and we have been offered the chance to tender for the maintenance at these sites to start Jan 2011. These sites are now "ours to loose", so a good spec & schedule and obviously price should gain us these sites.
