Hello folks, I would appreciate your view on an issue with a Honda HRX 476 rear roller mower.
Have been using them for 20 years and trade in for NEW every year to avoid problems and down time. Quite a tidy sum spent there.
I know the rear roller bearings wear out near the end of the season and keep a close eye on that.
This year I was surprised to find that after 4 months the bearings had gone completely on one side, still perfect on the other side.
Having used the machine in this condition for a period of time, could be days or weeks, damage to the roller has occured.
Honda will replace the bearings but not the roller.
Being 4 months old it is covered by Honda's commercial warranty of 1 year.
In Honda's defence I shouldn't have used the machine in this condition. In my defence I diddn't expect this problem so soon and took it to the dealers as soon as I was aware.
To me the fact that one side was still perfect (no play in the roller at all) indicates a manufacturing problem.
Feel let down after 20 years commitment to Honda Mowers. The Dealership says that it's impossible to speak to a an actual person at Honda.
Would you guys give me your opinion on the matter.
By the way, the height adjustment leaver fell off last year and this year, in the first few weeks. Sorted at my own expense.
Regards
Phill

I know from our dealers that it's a battle to get Honda to pay up for warranty claims when it's not straight forward, sounds like you have got a friday mower sort it and sell it.
just do what i did to a old honder mower get a rod of the same diameter and weld it on to the roler and a new bearing, still using it 10 years later with no problems (not every day noew as i am retierd)
