i have a 'few' times in the past and the back of a small murray ride-on onto small trailer.

but anything more than a homebase/mountfield £200 petrol i would not anymore.

i have ramps on every trailer or leave mowers 'on-site' now.

i am now 40 and have done 'all-sorts' for ten years but use trolleys/ramps/wheel barrows/ deliveries

for so many jobs now - after advice i admit. but is it not time that you changed?

- pulling your back for 5 mins and being in bed for a week will cost you £500 ( the price of a ramp/trailer/wait/delivery ?? investment time perhaps & think ahead?

  • We use ramps or 2 men to get the mowers into or onto our van and truck. Health and safety is something we take seriously - not to say a sharp word is required on occasions.

  • any ifor trailer does the trick

  • Why would anyone lift a mower? Madness. Two planks of wood screwed together and slotted behind the van bulkhead make an instant quick and easy ramp to get the machines in and out of the van dozens of times a day.

I lift mine in and out all the time its 35kgs I think ramps seam daft for that to me wouldn't like to lift a bigger machine mind
  • What's daft about ramps? Mine take approximately 2 seconds to pull out and place, drive the mower up them and then 2 seconds to slide back in the van. 4 seconds work, it looks professional, and it saves you lifting 35 awkward kilograms. To me that's a no-brainer.

  • Completely agree with dan. I used to do all that lifting and twisting to get mowers into van until I became virtually bed-ridden due to awful sciatic problems caused by a slipped disc. You may not think it's doing you any damage at 35kg, but performing this repetitious action dozens of times day after day and week after week will result in problems, not to mention very bad practise if you have employees.
  • On other thing. Lifting a mower means it's possible that one day you'll drop it, or put it down a bit too sharply.

One broken wheel or roller is worse than the small hassle of a ramp!

That said, my mower is easy if I'm alongside a kerb. Push the handle down, and the front wheels are high enough to get on the van, so just have to list the back up. Low loading-height is a wonderful thing!

  • I have a Ford Ranger Pickup

I cant afford a trailer at the moment, so I have to pick these up into and out of my van most days. 3314708871?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

Ones a small Honda HRD425c and the other is the Honda HRD536. By the end of the week it does get to be a pain, but cant do much about it until I get a trailer.

Small is about 30kg, big one 50kg+. I compete in powerlifting so doesnt make much difference tbh, but a trailer would be handy.

anyone got a free one I can have haha.
  • Does the pickup have a dropdown tailboard? If so, 2 6ft planks would make a perfect ramp. That honda is 65kg or so isn't it? It's nuts lifting that; you'll be wearing your bones out and it'll catch up on you one day!
