One so-called grass specialist up here has been tining lawns in spring and autumn and not applying any dressings when they are seriously needed... I don't think he understands lawns at all and it's quite frustrating as a couple of clients have been suckered in by the marketing. Claims of being a master of a trade and not carrying out what really needs to be done eventually show and as people realise it they will move away, same goes for any company.
I am also witnessing scarifying of lawns that have extremely minor levels of thatch, no moss and no structural support for the grass (which has been N-fed all season) resulting in clayey slippery surfaces still being scarified further.
Just shows how powerful marketing can be!
