Client referrals

There have been numerous mentions about asking your existing clients for referrals, I for one have hopefully hammered this home on quite a few threads.Just to highlight that it does work, we received a referral the other day and went to see the potential client this morning. Before we could start on her garden she asked us to visit her friend across the road. A referral from a referral that hadn’t even used us before!Result - Two new and very happy clients signed up and hopefully 3 or 4 more from the same close!Your clients are your best sales team you will ever have.

  • I agree with this wholeheartedly.

That is incredible that you were referred before even working :-)

    I'm good :-)
  • I have a friend who has a hair salon. He told one of his clients about me. She employed us to bring back to order her back garden (grass, edges, borders...). She and her son Cameron were stunned at how good a job we had done - Cameron sat at the window watching us clean up his garden the whole time!

She was in getting her hair cut again the other day and told them in the salon that she wishes I was everybody's gardener and that she only wish she'found' me earlier!!

I've since been back to do her hedge and grass again, her neighbours hedge, and she assures me she has passed on my name and number to several others. Oh and I now have her neighbours card as she wants me to give her a price for some drainage work. Her neighbour is a partner of large estate agency so who knows. Damn right I'll be doing a good price for her!

It's all good here in Ayrshire as far as referrals are going - makes you feel proud doesn't it!
  • The vast majority of my work now comes from referrals, I do provide a small incentive though, usually in the form of a £10 voucher. I don't advertise the fact, but if I get a successful referral I find this adds to the possibility of more. Happy days, keep the sun shining.
  • I completely agree. I have never advertised, instead all my work comes through client referrals. A happy customer is a walking advert. The job I am currently doing & the one I start next week both came from through referrals from the same customer - one I completed a job for earlier this year. That customer is about to get a lovely bottle of wine as a 'thank-you' - I do believe that it's important to let customers who refer you know how much you appreciate it.
