Client Demographics

I only do domestic these days ( apart from the grounds of a couple of small apartmentblocks ) and my mix of 'regulars ' - elderly to younger clients is a circa 50/50 mix now.I've noticed recently that new enquiries seem to be coming from the more elderly and retired age group and wonder if this area is where the growth in business is going to come in future ?Baby boomer generation retiring with more money , health problems etc etc.

older folk have more money, down sizing , moving up north with money. inheritence. savings and many people have saved on 1% mortgages the last 12months...........................

people are just trying to take advantage that we are short of work or their is competition from out of work , odd job men. etc.

just got a quote fpr £1500 from an older guy today........
  • Don't forget that over the next 5 - 10 years many people retiring will not be on final salary pension schemes!

I've got a few customers where the children are paying for their elderly parents garden to be maintained.

It is usually the children that contact me and get me to quote. I think this may be because they feel that their parents may be vulnerable and get ripped off.
  • I've got quite a mix - people updating after their kids have stopped wrecking their gardens, single ladies of all ages, couples with kids, retired couples wanting low maintenance, couples no kids wanting low maintenance etc. Mostly all want me to plan and supply the plants as well - the whole thing start to finish. most people want it to look good with minimal effort - the annuals brigade don't live round here!
