Cleaning Natural stone paving

Hi all,

has anyone got any cleaning recommendations/products that work best to clean natural stone slabs?

There’s been times where I’ve done a job and sand/cement get on the slabs and become a nightmare to clean off

Cheers in advance

Dan

Do not use brick acid, it will cause the iron embedded in the stone to go rusty. I used a specialised natural stone cleaner but for the life of me I cant remember the name sorry. Give it a Google you will find a safe product to use.

  • Take a look at protect it products.

    really helpful to deal with.

Take a look at lithofin products

  • Stating the obvious - don't get cement stains on the slabs in the first place. Any improvement in 'houskeeping' can help.  Using the right sand, consistency of bedding mix and pointing - if it isn't right, DON'T USE IT. If you use labour, if it isn't right, send it back to the mixer.  Keep the slabs dry. Of course, we all do get some wayward cement stains at times, so keep a bucket of clean water and decent sponge handy to sponge off immediately.

The brush-in pointing mixes obviously minimise the problem once the slabs are laid.

As has been said, the old fashioned bucket and sponge are the best solution for wayward cement.

  • Lithofin outdoor cleaner for general cleaning but they have cement residue cleaner too among others. Their technical department are quick to pick up and really know what they're talking about so just tell them what you need. The cleaner Dave Colton was talking about is Bero.

Yes that's the one, in a bottle with a blue and purple lable.
