Charity work?

Hi guys

I know with the recent mowerthon Phil did some great charity work and it has put something in my mind.

I'm thinking about donating 1 day a month to local charities with my lawn/garden care services to help raise my public profile.

Has anyone here every done this.

What do you think the possible pitfalls could be ect?

  • If I was a customer I would think you could knock 5% off what you charge me and I will choose to which charities I wish to subscribe

That's not really what i had in mind, I would be offering my services directly to certain local charities in northern Ireland, like 'pretty n pink' http://www.prettynpink.org

Or the hospice, they could farm me out to someone in need or even use my days service as a prize in a raffle ect.

I would set aside for example the last Monday of every month for it.

  • Sounds like a great idea Robbie.  The charities will benefit and you will hopefully get some good PR out of it.  Win win situation

  • I think it's a brilliant thing to do and something that will raise the profile of your business. Did you see my recent brief discussion about the arboricultural company that did a job for a client of ours and only charged us the cost of taking away the waste.

We didn't ask for this we just explained that we were a charity and they offered, as a result I was pleased to be able to name them and praise them up on LJN and on Twitter and Facebook. If every business did a day a month using it's skills to help a charity or an individual in need the world would be a better place.

    Good luck with it.
