Business landline and mobile transfer

Just wondering if anybody knew of a simple, cost effective way to set-up a separate business phone line at a home address. And one that allows incoming calls to be routed through to a mobile number at little or no cost.

Previously I had a separate landline installed for a one off price (about £130 I think) and mobile contract supplied by the same company so call redirection was free. But given the installation cost, then monthly line rental, and mobile contract it all seemed a bit pricey. If anybody has any smart solutions I would be grateful. Thanks.

  • Check out ttnc iv got a 'landline' number with them which just comes to my mobile, no need for a landline then, but people think they are calling one.
  • this is something i will be looking into over the next few months too

    Several simple options;

    1/ Your existing landline provider may be able to offer a second number on the same (single) landline with a different ring tone (so you can recognise personal vs business). BT can certainly provide this at low cost.

    2/ Buy/rent an Non-geographical-number (NGN) use call forwarding capabilities provided (complexities/facilities depend on Provider), but can be day/time routed to mobile/landline/voice mail, VoIP etc.

    3/ Buy/rent a free standing 'local' number which can be routed as in 2/ above

    4/ As in 2/ or 3/ above but route to a Virtual Receptionist who can answer your calls in person during office hours and then route as in 2/ above.

    5/ Buy/P&G additional mobile phone/number

    6/ I'm sure there are some more clever solutions now available

    Thanks for the suggestions. TTNC looks really good. I knew I'd get good advice on here. I do like the idea of a Virtual Receptionist though!

  • I use blueface , I have a landline number that connects to my mobile ,

  • i use a company called soho66 who will give you a landline that goes to your mobile for £2 a month. calls received are 8p a minute as far as i remember and there are lots of optional services, personal secretary etc at pretty reasonable prices.
