Brushcutter for bramble and tough plants

Hello everyone

Anyone got any advice on the best brushcutters for general vegetation clearance which will include some but not all bramble and tough plants?

I don't know whether to bite the bullet and go for the stihl anti-vibration model with mulcher blade as might be doing several days at a time - but only occasionally.

Or can you just buy mulcher blades separately and get a cheaper model?

2 or 4 stroke? I know the advantages/ disadvantages but just can't decide!!

Thanks in advance Jo

  • I brought a FS100 for this task - did a good job but dont do the clearance work anymore so its up for sale if you like.

Its a good mixed purpose brush cutter thats not too much overkill for lighter vegetation clearance

  • Depends how serious you're being about how much bramble and scrub you're clearing. Fs360 is the minimum to run a mulching head (don't forget to get the correct gaurd too) I use fs410 with mulching head and it does scrub and bramble for weeks at a time, and lasts for years with occasional new heads and new blades. I've seen an fs400 still going after 8 years of rail clearance.
Not sure fs100 is in the same league..
    • Second hand fs360 can be found for 250ish, mashing blade and gaurd extra 60
