Afternoon All

We're currently considering expanding our operations into the commercial grounds maintenance sector.  We've specialise primarily in private residential maintenance contracts over the past decade and I appreciate operating commercial contracts will have its pitfalls as well as being a whole other ball game.  Have only just begun my research and so do not have a lot to go on at the moment but thought it would be worth tapping the collective's mind for any advice; how to approach private management companies etc and stand out from the crowd, licences, what sort of price point to pitch ourselves at, whether indeed it's a worthwhile experiment.  I have some experience on the area through dealings with organisations such as Ground Control and it looks as though its best to steer clear of local authority contracts if you want to make any money!

All advice and experience gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

JB

Can't really offer any help, but thought I'd bump this post back to the top as there must be people on LJN able to give good advice, good luck...
    • Thanks for the bump Harry!  Interesting subject to look in to

  • Yes bump me to, Its hard, but you have to keep talking and sending info to the companies. A lot harder than the domestic market. We have a very small foothold, still like increasing season by season, but like domestic - Some like still v cheap, other will spend to invest...Minefield.!!

  • we picked up a few commercial contracts but they come to us in the  first place . we pricing the same as domestic customers some we got some we not there is extra paperwork you need to do with method statements and risk assessments   and the like . some will be 90 day payments so be careful
