Big mower and insurance

I was just wondering how you go about insuring a larger mower so that you are able to road tax it and use it legally on the road. If I could also ask what sort of price is it for the machines you are using and who you are with?.

Thanks

Mark

  • i have been informed that NFU mutual are very cheap for agricultural insurance give them a ring and see what they say ?

  • Ive tried the NFU today and they arnt sure if they can do this sort of policy. Who do you chaps use who are already doing commercial contracts?

  • The NFU have the tag within the industry of :

    No Flippin Use (polite version)

At least the nfu appear consistant about being not very good

  • The Nfu do insure them. They get insured in the same way as. Tracors. I believe it is about £35 for the year.
  • They wanted £500 to add a £500max Murray ride-on to my policy. Utter madness. They are useless insurers as t&s says
  • Thanks Kieran. Do you mind me asking what machine you are using for it to be around £35. Have you got your PL with them?

  • We have 8 policies with them so I guess that helps our mutual bonus. Its a jacobsen ar250 but then it only does around 15 miles on the road a year.
  • Thanks Kieran. Has anyone else got any other comments maybe different insurance companies you use?

I use Giles. Changed from Simply Business 2 years ago. Double the cover at half the price. Dont know ( and i hope i never do) what they are like when it comes to a claim but have to say the rep i deal with is brilliant. Dont have my machines for road use though
