Best scarifier for medium to large lawns

I currently operate a Camon scarifier and have done for 3 years, changed blades once about to turn the one's that are fitted at the moment.
Honda engine starts first time all the time.
This machine does a fair job, bugger when blades bend and start gouging the lawn however moving on, for medium to large lawns what manufacture and machine is viewed as best for medium to large domestic lawns and why?
I have been told to look at the Eliet E750 as recommended in a different thread I like the Eliet E600 compactor,if it does collect as described.

  • We use a sisis it takes that bit longer on large lawns but it is easy to transport and manuver so i think the time lost on the big lawns we make up on it being easer and quicker to move round the smaller gardens, getting it in and out of the van and lock up ect as it can be picked up by one man

Acacia hire out a range of scarifiers, one of which is the pedestrian Sisis 600 which is great for larger domestic areas (with a 600mm working width but still fits through the gate!). Seems to be very popular - it's easy to maneuver as it has reverse gear. It has a collector box and can be set up for deep & shallow scarification with blades or a verticut reel so is great for most of the year.

The Graden Verticut is good for varied scarification and is often used on cricket grounds and sport areas - this is a pedestrian as well and our customers seem to be very happy with the machine. It would take a while to do a much larger area with it as it is not as wide as the Sisis and it has no collector box - it depends on the size of the area and what its used for really.

We also have the much larger sisis maxi slitter (video here). It needs a vehicle to pull it along though so it probably isn't suitable!

    Hope that's of some help.

  • I'm using a dori 520 and it's superb, proper commercial build quality. It isn't any good for lawns with lots of small undulations though, or significant slopes as it takes a bit of a push to keep it going on any incline.

  • i bought a dori 520 in the spring and it works very well and was at a great price

  • High vibrations on it though Roy, but very good engine and a great wide working width, plus it isn't over powered by thick moss.

  • i not found that problem yet i done some lawns twice second pass at 45 degrees they do a great job i had to lift up the rear flap to get the moss out i had the moss 3 inches deep full width of the machine the collection bag is a waste of time
