    Hi Matt

Can you elaborate on what you mean "Is it time a set of standards applicable to Artificial Grass are introduced?"

Do you mean standards in terms of fibre length and material used or standards in terms of qualifications needed to install artificial grass?

Are existing imported products required to carry and/or conform to general EU 'CE' standards ?

Certainly understanding the products used in manufacturing arti-grass would be useful.

What would happen if I asked a current supplier for a 'spec' sheet ?

    Would it be available ?
  • our supplier provides spec sheets and certificates of warranty for the uv stability and also for a new product which is made from a high percentage of recycled materials. It is a good point well raised though. The internet is awash with cheap imports, many of which are sub-standard and using dubious materials and methods of construction, such as metal in the backing sheet, leading to expansion and contraction. Then again how many other materials are there in the landscaping industry that are imported of dubious quality such as paving

  • from £5.99- £25.99 ive looked and had a quote under £11.99 noyt worth installing . like cheap fence lap panels !

i was going to ask who you use as a supplier. ill start a new thread and what accessories to buy/ needed. as i have one i may do soon..

  • I believe lazylawn have the highest installation methods in the industry, driven from the top by a passion to be the best

I think you will find Wonderlawns specification and lawns are some of the highest and best on the market.

I have had approaches from several companies including lazylawn to use their products and have not as yet found better than Wonderlawns

  • Graham Lazylawn would never approach wonderlawns as Lazylawn is part of Evergreens uk and use their own brand of grass

  • Hi Gents

There are a great number of providers (dubious or not.) Many websites are popping up with the sole intention of just selling and making a quick buck. They have no experience and zero expertise to offer to the truly dedicated professional. Simply just jumping on what is currently a thriving and dare I say lucrative sector as I guess happens with all markets.

Even if you don't speak to Trulawn (which I hope you would) please ensure your supplier has some serious installation experience to back you up and talk you through the problems and pit falls that do exist.

Theres nothing worse than buying goods and feeling like you are simply talking to a warehouse when what you want is good advice.

  • Well said Michael:)

  • Very interesting.....

As I expected a Lazylawn Licensee claiming Lazylawn have the 'highest installation methods in the industry' and a Wonderlawn installer claiming Wonderlawn 'Specification and lawns are some of the highest and best on the market'

David/Graham it would be great if you could elaborate on those statements?

Phil, I would like to discuss specifically the product and where is it sourced. The brand is one thing and yes we all know any marketing story can be spun to create a sense of delirium however do installers, contractors and specifiers really know the facts?

It would be interesting to hear from another European Artificial Grass Manufacturer (unsure if there are any that are members of LJN?) regarding their views on the UK market at present?

JUTA approach the UK market via our Viroturf  range of products. All manufactured at our factory in the Czech Republic and extensively tested for Colour Fastness, Withdrawal Force and Fibre Strength. We have an annual capacity of 1.6 Million SQM and we can trace each and every SQM back through our quality control.

As an installer are you sure where the products you are installing are coming from? and have you had any poor experience with an Artificial Grass product once delivered that has been difficult to resolve with your supplier? e.g. Brown lining or comparable product default?

    Thank you for the comments
