The blokes in my family all spray for a living so i can get more info if you need.
did you only use the so called Cuprinol sprayable material/paint (expensive) or have you used the standard material, Wilkinsons own for instance which as you know is cheaper?

Still got three big tubs of creosote left from that job, we do the compost bins with them.
I think £120 for a sprayer is a bit steep for this job, so it looks like paintbrushes this time around.

Wood preservative, wood stain , varnish, exterior varnish, exterior gloss paint, etc are all different products for wood. Sawn or smooth, Quality of finish, etc As to whether you can spray the product successfully will depend on its viscosity. Water based products are about as effective as painting the timber with tea! Dulux Garden shades or similar give a better finish because of the higher pigment level, but they are not preservative.

Like karl said we also have contracts to treat fence panels on a commercial basis. Spraying can not work no matter how or what you use. We use the creasote sub which I find is just as good.
The best result we have had is with mixing it with White spirit and using a cheap sprayer. We left all but one of the filters in which was near the nozzle, even then it blocked every 5 or so panels.
