Ants in Lawns

Hi all,

What products are we using for ant control in turf? Seems to be a complete pain for some of mine. I don't currently offer a product.

Increasing the level of disturbance for the lawn through scarifying and aerating to my knowledge helps as should encourage them elsewhere. However this isn't going to be the solution where there are deep long established nests.

TIA

Approved ant pesticide for us is now Sumi Alfa. We deep spike any nests and saturate them, plus blanket spray the lawn. We get from Agrigem.

    Hi Jack,

For small areas the Vitax ant killer sachets do a good, contact kill. No messy powder and quick results - rolling, spiking & ant killer seem to work for us...SEE HERE

  • Thanks guys. Will look into those.

Seems to be a bigger problem this spring with all the dry weather. In the Midlands we had a month and a half worth of rainfall last week with 9 either completing dry or almost completely dry weeks surrounding that.

I think this year is going to be bad for ants. Over here in Guernsey there are lots around, went to get some ant baits for a hotel I do a bit of work for and the shelves were cleared out. When I asked at the counter I was told that there had been a run on it and more was on order.
