Yes the customers are starting to come out of hibernation and the phone and emails are starting to go mad already. Had my first ridiculous enquirey of the year and im sure there will be more to follow

I got an email from a customer with a picture of the back garden, asking how much would it be to "do a deck" oh and sorry but i havent measuerd anything yet.(absolutley no other details sent with it or idea of exactly what they want) Im rather tempted to send back a photo of a pile of money and say im sorry i havent deceide how how it should be yet!

You just know more are to follow when the sun begins to shine!

Thermo, not always a good idea to slate potential customers on an open forum with such seo capabilities as ljn. Your potential customers will find a thread like this very easily if they googled "how much for decking".
  • If I were you I'd assist this prospect and nurture all the details and finer points out of them...... get involved and show your passion and internal fire, they probably don't realise the process involved, help them and you may reap the rewards of going out of your way......

  • wll i thought it was a bit of a funny one and worth sharing for some humour. Of course i have got the business sense to follow it through and try and develop the enquirey. ho hum

  • Brilliant point Kerry. Help them understand the work involved in quoting and carrying the work out and they may then realise what they asked is a tad silly.

  • Thermo was just having a laugh, but Brian does have a very good point, I think it is all to easy to forget that you are on an open forum with the potential for the content that you write to cause damage to your business and reputation ( dont worry Thermo im sure it wont come to that)

Is there a way to turn back the clock so to speak and delete comments and posts ? Perhaps Phil could answer that one ?

  • No disrespect, but im not worried at all really, it was posted in attempt at light hearted humour rather than all the serious stuff that is often posted on here. Im just amazed at how many people want to jump in and give advice and take things so seriously when perhaps a chuckle might have been more appropriate.

Thermo, obviously you don't get the power of the web or forums. I don't see any smileys, lol's or haha's in your post to indicate your post was in jest. I thought I was doing you a favour, obviously I was wrong !!!!!!!!

  • Actually i think i do understand how the web and forums work, so please dont make assumptions and i thought the written word was somewhat better than smileys or lols, hence why i wrote no disrespect. If you wish to get the hump and take it all out of context then thats entirely up to you but no offence was intended.

The thread may as well be closed or deleted as it would seem humour is a strange concept that seems to pass over some. I shall now go and stand outside in the cold and flog myself with a cat o'nine tails, whilst chanting "I must not smile, I must not smile" (thats humour by the way...oh never mind, im off to find some smileys to post)
