Scraping out with patio weeder or wire brush . but the weeds will re appear and time consuming ,
One of those Stihl rotary wire brush attachments that dont fling stones at windows .
If its safe to do so i will use a cordless strimmer with plastic blades
for gravel a burgon and ball weed slicer which has a sharp sided small head the shape of an arrow , slides through the gravel lovely .
I've had some success with the Ego Rotary Cutter disk/blade thing. As long as there are no loose bits of membrane down to snag on then it just works as a mechanical hoe really. Can then lightly rake or get the blower on the cuttings to clean up after. It doesn't fling stones either.
Do you work the rotary blade under the gravel Kevin?. I have one of these but haven't used it in gravel yet.
Yes, I use it in the same way I would a hoe really, cutting away close to the root as possible. Works well with the rotary blade. It may be a bit wearing on the blades but it makes light work of an area
The ego guy uses it in a similar way in this post...

A step up from a smaller weed burner is a large roofers gas torch or a Sheen X300 flame torch. They work well but do need several applications for full eradication of perennial weeds.
