Advice on obtaining commercial contracts

Hi all,I'm looking for some advice on how best to get commercial contracts. I have a couple I got by default but want to expand into basic grounds maintenance for local businesses and councils. I'm really struggling to find any "productive" way of making first contact.Does anybody have some advice they can share please? Websites, formats, experiences etc etc. All ideas greatly received!

    Hi Andy

I'm sure you'll get plenty of replies but in the meantime, have a look at these previous threads.

Flat developments - Generally there is a managing agent. They will already have contractors on their books. Normally a selection. They generally want evidence you can exceed their current contractors and even then they often won't change. You will probably have to jump through quite a few H&S hoops to! I have a lot of work in the region

Business parks - I have struggled on this one. So any help would be nice.

Local businesses - again struggle here. I have found most of this to be very price orientated though :(

Parish council - If you contact them now they might invite you to tender for next year. They often send out their invites soon.

Proper LA - again not a clue on this one. There are probably some others on here who have more experience though!

Find out where the office of your local parish council/s is/are and pop in and make yourself known to the clerk. They have to get 3 quotes for any work they want undertaking in my experience.
If you quote and win some small stuff, and do a good job they will keep asking you. I went to the local parish office today to pick up a cheque for some completed work and came away with that and 4 other jobs to quote for.
    It works for me.
