    Black smoke would suggest it's running rich for some reason; Standard service checks should locate cause such as : Blocked/old air filter, choke issue, blocked carb, stuck float, bad adjustment etc - ie anything on the fuel intake side of an engine. Pulling & looking at the plug would confirm this...
