  Hi Phil

  Can you be more specific? Are you a Leeds resident or are you operating a business? The website you have posted does not seem to be registered.

  Most Leeds residents have brown bins to dispose of green waste but they are not being collected now until March. Larger amounts of waste can be taken to domestic waste sorting facilities (provided it is personal waste from Leeds residents).

  If you are transporting waste for business purposes you need a Waste Carriers Licence. Green waste has to be disposed of and paid for at a trade waste facility - Kirkstall and Seacroft are the two in LS postcodes. If you do not have a licence it is illegal to transport and dispose of green waste if it for commercial gain.

  I operate in Leeds and am licensed with the Environment Agency to transport and dispose of green waste, and offer that as a stand-alone service. If you want to get in touch via the website with some more details I will get back in touch. http://www.mckaygardeningservices.co.uk/

  I would ask the other gardeners you see whilst out and about in your specific area. There may be a solution locally you could miss out on otherwise.

  there is a farm on the A64 near the A1 that takes green waste (roughly the same cost as above) in wet conditions it gets a bit sticky underfoot

  I know the guy who runs that - Oliver Dennis. There are no weighing facilities as far as i remember so price is estimated on size of load i think. He also has a very large shredder which is loaded with a JCB - makes short work of the largest pile of waste. He spreads all the shredded material on the fields.

  The bee keeper at my allotment site got his bees from their -
  I also used that farm when I was based in clifford nearby a few years back.

  For the west of Leeds if you can get a large enough volume (several cubic meters) I belive Nutramulch will take it, their near Golden Acre park - that said I think they prefer very large loads.

  Under no circumstances can you take your waste to the council sorting sites - I have a letter warning me after I asked in 2010 - Very clear If a trades person removes waste from a site, even if they did not create it, they must dispose of it at a trade waste site, and can not use the council sites.

  Interesting Seacroft was mentioned above as this was where I was turned away and given the pre-prepared note on trade waste in 2010 - unless it has changed since?

  High trees lawnmower centre in horseforth have a sign up offering green waste tipping at the moment by the counter... I have not asked anything about it as I have private arrangements to dispose of my waste on a local farm (with ea approval).

  Thank you all for your response to my first post on this forum. After making a few phone calls and asking a few questions. I have found a trade waste site in Keighly which will take Green Waste for £12.50 per half a ton, then price per the 20kg there after. Not too bad, I think!

  keighley is a long way out from most of leeds? Surely the fuel cost will negate any savings unless your storing up tons for one huge delivery at a time!

  Do you mind if i ask what sort the waste is? Is it shredded etc... I will make enq's at the place I use for you if its all clean grass and shredded waste not contaminated by any herbicides etc their may be a home for it. (it is currently a private arangement not normally open to trade - An organic farm with ea licence in north leeds).

  Thanks for putting your post on. The waste would be grass clippings and other green waste that wouldn't be shredded. But would be interested in your contact, regarding organic farm. If they were able to take it maybe another option.

  You do not need a waste carriers licence until the beginning of 2014. It is therefore, not illegal to carry green waste in the course of business. Please see below the email from the environment agency, in reply to my inquiry concerning a waste carriers licence.

  Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding waste carrier registration. If you are carrying out construction or demolition work and carry the waste produced eg. fencing, paving, soil then you will need to register. If you are carry trimmings, green wastes etc. which you have produced as part of your work even if you have been given a specific instruction, you do not need to register.From the end of December 2013 anyone who transports waste they have produced both normally and regularly (unless it is construction and demolition waste) will be a specified person and will need to register in the lower tier.There is no charge to register and the registration lasts indefinitely. There is currently no option to register as a specified person in the lower tier and the option will not be available until nearer the time, we do not have a specific date of when it will be available.
