  • I thought it was a lower tier I needed got a letter today with no mention of green waste it refers to agricultural waste
  • In a Nutshell until EA bring out new guidelines in 2013

If all you produce and take from jobs is green waste no matter how small....... lower tier

If you take is  green and Hardcore no matter how small amount........ higher bracket.

We phoned Ea regarding this and they advised us to go lower tier until 2013.

I have enclosed the email and document sent to me by the EA

    Hope it helps

  • Thankyou
  • Do you have to pay for this or is it free?

  • Lower tier is free
Which I assume lets you carry green waste
Thou the difference between upper and lower seems really unclear
  • O ok thanks for that

  • according to the  EA site if all you carry is shrubs and green waste you have removed you dont have to apply until after the end of December 2013

  • Indeed, but my local centre have been cracked down on by the EA and have to insist that you have a license or you aren't allowed in. Great work there from the EA......

I just applied for the free level anyway, picked the nearest category that requires a license (agricultural, I think), and now everyone's happy. Except that I'm probably guilty of treason, or some other hanging offense, for "lying" on a government form. :-(

    Hi Guys,

I'm also looking at registering at Lower Tier, having previously had the full certificate.
When I went through the online form, as I selected the waste wasn't any of the above waste categories, It won't complete the registration.
I see some of you have registered as 'agricultural' waste carriers, is that the option we/I should choose to become registered again, in order to satisfy our/my waste disposal station.
Has anyone had any problems being registered as 'agricultural' waste carriers even though they are carrying 'garden' waste?
I also noted on the EA site it now says we don't need to issue householders with a waste note, have you stopped or ignored this?

If you are collecting non-hazardous waste produced at domestic premises, from the householder, the householder does not need to complete a waste transfer note

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • I rang them up several times last year - and from the description I gave - "waste plant matter, grass cuttings, woody plant waste (untreated) etc) they said Agricultural would be the correct type.
