How long does waster carriers licence take?

Need to get me of these as got pulled in the other day and given a warning. Have a job coming up very soon where I need to transfer some green waste, even though I don't need the licence, the waste transfer station considers it trade waste, and want to see the card.Have gone on environment website but no mention how long it takes. Thanks!

usually about 14 - 21 days from when they recieve your application, depends on how busy they are

  • Thanks Brian, so technically I can't use the van for waste until I have the card, or would confirmation be enough...I can't see them accepting that at the tip.
  • Axel you'd need to call them as it's a different agency to Brian and I.

PS That van doesn't like waste inside :) She complained once!

  • Can you print off confirmation that you've applied online? That should be enough to keep the dump happy I'd have thought.

  • Thanks for the advice lads, have applied and ended up getting a skip for the waste.

Ah she does not mind the green waste too much Dan, makes a change from half a ton of ballast she usually is carting around
  • What makes you say you do not need a licence? If you are carrying waste produced as a result of commercial enterprise you should have one. The transfer station you use should also insist on waster transfer notes with SIC codes and wording along the lines of "I confirm I have fulfilled my duty to apply the waste hierarchy"

  • If your only carrying green waste then you don't need to register till the end of Dec 2013.

  • I registered anyway, at least I've got the license in the meantime. It's awkward to fill in, as they are trying not to let you have the free version until 2013, so I ticked the "agricultural" box to get mine. I've had a higher-tier license for years, and paid for it, so having the free one is a bonus, but the tip still insist I need one before 2013. Very confusing.
