Battery Mower thoughts?

Evening all

Anybody running a Self propelled cordless mower? & would have any thoughts on what they are like.

With fuel rising daily ( it will never drop back) & battery tech getting better & better i'm ready to make the leap

I'm very tempted to get one just not sure which yet, i do have a few Stihl AP 300s batteries so more than likely it'll be a Stihl mower. But not 100%

Lawns i currently cut are small to mid range odd 1 or 2 little bigger.

  • Hi, Stihl battery mower i use the most is the little mulching one RMA2RT. AP300S's are great in this. I have one of the RMA448 ones too and use sometimes, but am not really that keen on it. Mostly I use various Bosch battery mowers and have done so for many years. I cut big lawns as well as small with battery power. Not just to save money, although it does eventually, but I like the way they run and largely hassle free

Ditto the Stihl mower we have is great, came out to play yesterday.... also have used the ego which is quicker and more powerful...

  • Been using the Ego 47cm so far this year. Few cuts damp grass and a fair bit of growth. No issues thus far, has self propelled aswell which havent bothered using as light as anything ,around 30kg I think.

Battery life appears decent, using the 5 AH with it, bought all the ego multi tool kit last year so have built up a good collection of batterys which can be a bit of a expense in one hit.

  • I've been using the Husqvarna Lc 347 ivx since last year and it's great.

I already had the Husqvarna battery hedge cutter set up so have just added 3 more bli 300 batteries giving me around 160 minutes run time when used in the mower

It has plenty of power, variable speed ,pretty fast on top speed (4.5 Kmh) and cuts and collects as good as petrol equivalent

Twin battery compartment so getting at least 80 mins runtime using 2x bli 300 batteries and they only take 1 hour to recharge using Qc 500 charger

  • Another tick for the Stihl RMA 448. Variable speed settings, great for slow speed boxing in & quite nippy at full pelt. Light enough to pick up with one hand & put in the van (30kg) I have one lawn in particular which gets quite wet in places, if I use the Weibang I just end up with a muddy mess, the Stihl is so light it doesn't matter. Use AP300's & get around an hour out of each of them, I also disengage the drive if going down a slope, saves a little juice as well.

    • there are even lighter ones around than the RMA448, mine is definitely a 2-hand lift for me even without a battery fitted, if going up more than a couple of steps I would prefer to take a different mower, if it suited the job well enough. My largest bosch cordless one is extremely heavy, I use ramps to put it on the truck, the self propelled feature helps it shoot up those easily though
