On February 1, 2016, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared Zika virus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). In the United States, there have been 472 travel-associated Zika virus disease cases reported as of May 4. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Zika virus will likely continue to spread to new areas. With Lyme disease also on the rise, and Lyme Disease Prevention Month (May) upon us, it’s important to get the facts on these vector-borne public health concerns in order to protect your workers and inform customers, if they ask.
