Yorkshire fog

I started at a new property in April with a 600 m2 lawn full of moss and trying to restore to a croquet lawn. I've scarified and need to do again when the skies above allow. My issue at present is there is quite a bit of rogue Yorkshire fog and another paddock type grass. We visit fortnightly and mow each time but with this wetter than usual summer the grass needs mowing at 50mm then 30mm as it's too long. Client is very open to ideas and agreed to weekly mows yesterday.

Would  you agree a further scarify and a weekly 30 mm cut will eradicate the paddock grasses or is there a chemical solution

I resent the idea of hand weeding out all the rogue grasses that grow 10 inches in 2 weeks

open to ideas many thanks

I've dealt with the weeds already and the lawns stripe brilliantly

Try and cut it shorter if you can, the long grass won't tolerate it and will die off. It's a bit against the grain to scarify now, normally spring or autumn.

  • somthing that contains pinoxathin will kill fog if its still available

if you are scarifying for moss it needs treating before otherwise you just spread the spors about
