Given the large number of thefts of tools from vans in recent months, you may like to know who to contact if you suspect that a tool you may be considering purchasing has been stolen and find the name of the registered owner.
If you are offered any tools from the list below please try to get in contact to find the registered owner.
STIHL. All serial numbers are 9 digits long, numbers only and usually on a white sticky label. They are very good and most serial numbers will be registered with them and which shop it was sold to. The shops generally keep customer details.
Steve HUCKLE steve.huckle@stihl.co.uk 01276 417641
HUSQVARNA. All serial numbers are 9-11 digits long, numbers only
Jonathan SNOWBALL jonathan.snowball@husqvarnagroup.com
Natalie WILLIAMS natalie.williams@husqvarnagroup.com
DEWALT. Dewalt serial numbers can vary. They will be a series of numbers between 4 and 7 digits and will either be imprinted into the battery compartment (need to remove the battery) or on the rating plate sticker on the side of the tool. They will only have them on the database if the owner registered them when bought
Philip MOORE philip.moore@sbdinc.com
FESTOOL TNR number is a batch number and SNR is a serial number. Ideally they need both. They will only have them on the database if the owner registered them when bought

You only have to go to the "marketplace" on Facebook to see a load of random power tools thAt are no longer "needed" to see the extent of stolen equipment.
Most tradesmen run a tool till it burns out not till it looks ok and no longer required. I only buy new or from a dealer.
Taking a man's tools he needs to work is one of the lowest things someone can stoup to
