Work wear - what works for you?

Hi,

I’m looking at getting some kind of uniform so I look more professional when on jobs (and not like a scruff bag like I currently do in my old Levi’s)...

Looking at getting my logo printed/embroidered on tshirts/polo shirts but any recommendations for companies and brand of tshirt, material composition (cotton/poly cotton) helpful.

Also, what do the ladies on here wear for trousers? Struggling to find anything!

Thanks!

Fi

Hi Fi, trousers wise there is a company called Genus who make gardening trousers, they look good but are really expensive!  We have just bought a pair for Julie (my partner) on eBay for about £20 (normally £95). I have never tried them because the blokes ones are £125! If you search eBay for Genus ladies gardening trousers there are a few pairs still there although sizes look a bit limited. Otherwise Regatta 'walking' type trousers from places like Go Outdoors are reasonably priced and have served us well. Shower proof is useful. Good luck Jim.

  • I buy my work wear and get it embroidered by a company in Bodmin called Wovina. They have a huge catalogue and their embroidery is excellent. Also not too pricey!

Engelbert Strauss - high quality, and do lots of ladies kit as well. Pricey, but quality great.

Workwear express - lots of choice, good prices, medium quality, good bundle deals, some ladies kit.

  • I can thoroughly recommend as per Andrew. Englebert Straus. My trousers are now three years old, bar being faded a little in the sun, they are still in beautiful nick.

i think each pair was £65, loads of colour combinations to choose from too.

we wear polo shirts on top and they come from Recognition Express in Grimsby (they’ll send out) my logo is embroidered on, along with my name.

  • i have my trousers from Engelbert straus though only problem though is that i'm in between sizes there, annoying as i'm usually a 12, but wear a 10 from them, although i need to move the button coz they fall down too low, though the size 8 wouldn't go on. annoying, seeing as the waist can be adjusted to loosen but not tighten!

They are nice trousers though, think mine are the e.s motion about £65, i bought two pairs. I was fed up of wearing mens trousers. Though I have just bought some mens cargo shorts from primark and another pair from Aldi/Lidl - can never remember out of the two.

I use workwearexpress for all my polos, fleeces and hats which i get branded up

  • Another vote for Engelbert Strauss, loads of colours and combinations, customer service really is amazing too.

Dickies supply our polo shirts, with logo's - price and turnaround is good, last lot lasted about 18 months and then started to fade - still useable but didn't look smart anymore. Replaced with same again. 65% Polyesyer, 35% Cotton, 200gsm.

Wasn't so happy with Dickies fleeces, they seem to catch easily on thorns, leaving holes in them. Maybe all fleeces are like that, need to try a different brand to compare.

    Hi,

I recently bought a Engelbert straus - prestage jacket as a winter jacket to work in. When it arrived I’m a bit disappointed with it. The quality is excellent and I’m sure it does everything it says on the tin, wind resistant etc etc.

i was just after something a bit heavier / warmer.

    any suggestions welcome..

Hi Clive - I have the opposite problem with my recent ES purchase. I got the Winter softshell jacket e.s.motion 2020 and its so warm on anything but the coldest days. I think this recent cold snap is the result of my prayers for the right conditions to put it to the test!

  • We use cragg hopper shirts with our logo embroidered on. Great quality and look smart too. Mostly if the year we are in shorts and I have found the Lee Cooper from Amazon in black to be comfortable.
