why do the groundsmen do that ?

One for the fine turf experts on here. Im sitting watching the footy results come in and they are reporting from the Stoke ground. In the background there is two groundsmen 'mowing' the turf with what looks like a couple of Honda Izzy's. They cant be cutting the pitch !?!?....... are they just 'lifting' the grass back up after the hammering its took from the players and the game ?.

  • Could they be using something with spiker attachments? - or an expenditure for the tax man - 30 Izys should do it!

  • I saw them do it a couple of weeks ago with hrh rollers. Could be they don't want heavy machinery on the soft ground. Or it could be a cost issue, a couple of mowers will still get the job done in a couple of hours and don't cost as much a a pro ride on.

The Honda pro 21 rear roller are used a lot on football pitches they are very good for cleaning up the pitch in sucking up any surface rubbish of the grass ,
