Who’s land

Hi guys and gals

Just been to look at a job and the nice elderly gent wants snowberry lonicera and bramble border cut to ground level for minimal Maintenance  going forward

my issue is the council have visited once recently in 20 years to trim it but all years previous the client has done this assuming it was his

I get the impression he's a little confused and thinks it's his land although outside of his boundary so I have doubts, the council may own it or just cut it as it overhangs the road. It's a small cul de sac of 7 houses

So my question is who to contact and if no one claims ownership am I liable going forward, it's no show garden and will be better cut down but wary of getting stung so need to work out it's genuine owner

Any advise greatly appreciated Luke

  • i think you can go to the local council to find out who owns it but its long winded the cliants house deeds will give him a good idea

i would have thought the council would not cut it if it did not belong to them, they would send a letter to him telling him to cut it back or they will send contractorrs to do the job and bill him for it
